DETERMINATION!

2004 was to become a testing year for T as she was sadly taken into hospital with admissions amounting to 2 years confined to a hospital bed. She suffered tremendous pain screaming aloud day and night and was given just 6 days to live weighing just 5 stone, she is 5ft 11 inches tall! Doctors assumed it was anorexia and almost missed the fact is was NOT anorexia but what is thought to be rare disease called Gastroparesis. Once Thema had received the right diagnoses she was then nursed back to health by Good Hope hospital in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. Thema has undergone 12 operations to treat her gastroparesis in just 2 years. Gastroparesis is a debilitating chronic illness which Thema still suffers from but now has under good control with medication. She is a survivor and no stranger to overcoming adversities ranging from racism to prejudice or just trying to defeat her illness by willpower alone. She tries to keep going and refuses to let her illness or jealous people stand in the way of any of her future dreams and aspirations!

Thema runs a gastroparesis awareness campaign in the UK spreading much needed gastroparesis education in all aspects of the media including TV shows, news specials, magazines, newspapers and radio shows putting her modelling and journalism skills to positive use.

Thema is now dancing again on a regular basis against all the odds. Ballet, jazz, tap, modern classes in London. Thema is there dancing her little heart out and loving every minute of it. Thema is moving onto pasture's new and varied and is looking forward to her future endeavours.
